The Weight of the World: How Do We Rise When It Feels Like Everything is Falling?

Is it just me, or is the dark cloud of impending doom looming harder than ever? It’s a new year! I love the new year, because it’s a symbolic time for rebirth, growth, and new beginnings. I wanted more than anything to lock in on my goals, realign myself with my visions for the future, and focus everything I have into stepping into the woman that I am becoming. But it feels like as soon as the clock struck 12 on January 1st, the world set ablaze—literally and figuratively.

Between the LA wildfires, the deep south snow storms, and Trump in office, I think I speak for us all when I say... What the actual fuck is going on? How are we supposed to wake up and charge towards becoming our best selves when our human rights are literally on the line, and our planet is mad at us? I know there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, or it seems that way anyhow. But part of being transparent is being honest about being genuinely scared when you cannot see the light for miles and miles.

It’s hard to rise to the occasion when it feels like everything around us is crumbling. When the world seems to be going to hell in a handbasket, how can we possibly stay focused on our own growth, on making space for ourselves in this chaotic universe? The news cycle never stops. It’s relentless, and it can make us feel so small in the grand scheme of it all. How do we actually take care of ourselves when the foundation beneath us seems so shaky?

I’ll admit—some days, I just want to shut it all out, turn off the TV, and crawl into bed. But what happens when we don’t have the privilege to look away? How do we keep our heads up and our hearts open when our existence is constantly under siege, whether from natural disasters, systemic injustice, or political instability?

The world is a scary place right now. We quite literally don't know what tomorrow will bring. Despite it all, I encourage you to show up (however that looks to you) even when we don’t have all the answers. Even when we don’t feel like we’re winning. It’s okay to sit in the mess. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed by it all. But, let’s not forget that we’re in this together. Even when it feels like the weight of the world is too much to bear, we can still find strength in the little things—connection, self-compassion, and just taking one small step at a time.

So, For All The Girls Who are feeling like the darkness is heavier than ever—know that you’re not alone. The world can be exhausting, but sometimes, we need to step back, take a breath, and do the things that fill us up, even if it's just for a little while. Take that social media break. Step away from the constant flow of negativity and give your mind a chance to reset. Call your friends and go out for a night of laughter and support. Do the things that make you feel alive and remind you of the beauty in the world, even when everything else feels overwhelming.

We don’t have to have all the answers, and we certainly don’t have to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders alone. Find joy in the small moments. Let's go for walks, take naps, watch shows that make us laugh, and surround ourselves with people who remind us that life is still worth living. And, most importantly, we have to be kind to ourself.

Think about it—throughout history, we’ve faced challenges that seemed insurmountable. From times of war to social unrest, from economic collapse to global pandemics, humanity has gone through periods that felt like the end of the world. Yet, time and time again, we’ve emerged from those dark times stronger, wiser, and more united. We’ve rebuilt, we’ve redefined ourselves, and we’ve risen.

As we keep moving forward, one step at a time, we will rise. We’ll keep finding light, even in the darkest moments, because we are stronger than we think. And as long as we keep showing up, together, there’s no challenge we can’t face.
